Next thing you know, what Sidney Crosby ate for breakfast will be national news.
I know it’s Sidney Crosby, the best player in the world, but can hockey not do anything without him? Another day, another story, top of the headlines for TSN.ca. A story saying nothing we didn’t know already. Sidney Crosby is trying to return, and won’t return until he is 100% healthy. Is this news? Especially considering we heard this exact same report a couple weeks ago at Crosby’s preseason press conference? Is the offseason really this slow?
I understand Mr.Crosby is a huge icon in Canada, and across North America, but this is a useless and pointless news story if I ever saw one. Surely there is another story that TSN could have aired that would be more interesting. The story even showed the same clips that we have all seen (‘we’ as in sports fans) a million times, of Crosby getting hit by David Steckel.
At least we had an interview with Sidney, so that should spice the story up and make it interesting… Except for the fact that he said absolutely nothing of substance, and basically repeated his press conference.
I’m all for Crosby updates. After all, I have him in my hockey pool, but please, if it’s an update, make it an update.
