Amir,
This is a great story idea. It’s really interesting, and I had no idea Japan was working on this. It sounds like this technology could really be useful, and Japan is often ahead of everyone else at developing things. I thought it was really funny that they said it can be used as a kid’s play house.
I’m not sure how expensive this is, but it would definitely be useful in countries other than Japan. The problem is, most of the places with large disasters are less developed countries who couldn’t afford this. The fact that they are less developed doesn’t make natural disasters happen to their country, but it limits their ability to deal with them.
An earthquake the same magnitude as the one in Haiti, if in Los Angeles for example, wouldn’t cause nearly the same amount of death and destruction, mostly due to their improved building standards.
A small Japanese company has developed a modern, miniature version of Noah’s Ark in case Japan is hit by another massive earthquake and tsunami: a floating capsule that looks like a huge tennis ball.
Japan’s Cosmo Power says the “Noah” shelter is made of enhanced fibreglass that can save users…
