Who knew the CBC was so big?
Our videography class took a trip to the CBC this past week, for my first ever post-secondary field trip. I didn’t even know there was such thing! And yet, the first thought I had was so profound, so deep, so emotionally charged: “Wow, this place is huge!” There were floors and floors, and rooms and rooms.
Then, eventually, the learning occurred. Yes, we stopped in at the news desks and saw what went on, saw everyone bustling at their desks, trying to get everything done. We saw live news going on at that very moment, and we looked (only from afar unfortunately) at the Hockey Night in Canada floor. But the thing that was most interesting to me was the talk by Mike Kelley.
He hosts his own show now on CBC, and he talked to our class about his journey to where he is today, and threw in some advice as well. He was a great speaker, I found him very interesting, and he was very honest as well. He seemed to want to share with us. The theme of his talk was that we shouldn’t be afraid to fail, and that if we learn from it, that failure will only make us stronger.
