Well, a guy can hope, right? This week we are covering the ‘Occupy Toronto’ movement, closely associated with the overriding ‘Occupy Basically Everywhere’ movement. We will produce a story from Toronto, shooting, editing, hosting, and uploading on location before we return.
Our show is hoping to feature a number of different angles on this story, and we hope to represent both sides when all is said and done.
My reporting team got the assignment of reporting on the eviction (if there is one). Now, being bold and courageous, I want there to be an eviction and I want it to be crazy. I don’t want anyone to get hurt, but I wouldn’t mind some chaos to make the experience (and the story) more interesting.
In the breaking news today, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford said that the protesters will be given an eviction notice soon, and he expects them to leave peacefully because they have been peaceful in their protests so far.
Will he be right? I guess we won’t know until it happens. For my sake, hopefully he isn’t… and it all goes down on Wednesday.
Our executive producer, Steve Parr always says, “You must use a tripod unless the bullets are flying.” We’ll be leaving our tripods at home.
Stay tuned.
